You should have strong math skills to crunch the numbers that need to be used to understand the reason for someones decision to invest in a company.
You need to be able to understand the financial statements and where the numbers are coming from. Are the numbers being manipulated to make the bottom line look better. Certain numbers might be moved to a different column. Accounting will be also important.
The best financial analysts make millions because they understand calculus, differential equations, statistics and write equations that will predict how a company will react.
You also need to understand macro and microeconomics

all math subjects..yes it may help you a lot to be a good financial analyst..
like me, i am taking up engineering...so i really studying the facts in math and more books that will help to my course.. |

YES
You would need to be able to understand business math well enough to know if the company's proclaimed numbers added up right, since all public corporations are required to do the math and report it quarterly.
You would have to know forensic accounting in order to understand the relationships between different types of balance sheet items and how some factors can tip the scales such as payroll and expense handling practices
You would also have to be able to keep large amounts of such camparative data in your head in order to answer questions on the fly.
so math skills would be helpfull.
calculator (adding machine) skills in particlar.
learn the numeric keyboard and practice it. You want to get to between 60-100 keystrokes per minute to keep from being dragged down by speed |
