If you worked for a very very big company and the CEO "steps down" what if anything does that mean to you?
Do you think that could effect any of the other employees? I dont want to say the company, but if you can figure it out then thats another thing.

This doesn't usually affect baseline employees as the staffing and rotation issues tend to be Company policy and enforced by midline Managers who report to the CEO

Usually that determines that something BIG is about to go down. That happend to my husband's company and about a month later they laid off more than half of the upper management.

It depends on what you mean by "effects." It could always have an effect on stock prices down the road (good or bad). It also could mean a new direction in the company vision, standards, strategy, etc.

If you are talking about day to day work, then, no it probably doesn't do a whole lot immediately. However, the CEO is the person that determines the overall vision and direction of the company, so it eventually will have some effect on everyone company wide, whether they know it or not.

As an example, the CEO of Citi Corp recently stepped down. That is a big deal to the financial world because it is the nations largest bank. What you know for sure is that there will be a new CEO. There is no real way to know yet if the employees of the various divisions will be affected by the new leadership. Much depends on the circumstances. If the company is in financial hardship, then it is likely that jobs will be cut. On the other hand folks in upper management positions should be polishing their resume because new leadership means new opportunity!

It is not uncommon for it to mean others will go. usually others close to the past manager.

In many management changes the new management will sometimes bring in "their people". These are persons that they have had a past working relationship with and know what the manager wants and how to do it their way.

So make nice and be helpful and prove useful. Thereby making yourself more of a fit for the new people.

Have to look out for number one (yourself).
