So Cold | Im not doing a good job at my job...should i quit? |
Im not doing a good job at my job...should i quit?
Its not that it is out of my capability range...i just feel a little overwhelmed.
I want to sit down with my boss and discuss how i can impove...but is that something that i should assess and analyze on my own?
I dont want to point out my faults if the have not noticed them, but i have a nagging feeling that they are becoming more and more obvious to everyone....
Would i be out of line in asking for assistance with being organized and successful.
I like this job and want to keep it, but i really dont know what i can do to imporve.
Help!! |

Hold on... You have to understand that you may be your own worst critic. There may only be one or two things that you do that are wrong in the eyes of your boss that could be a pet peeve.
Don't point out what you think the problem is unless you aren't sure about something and need advice to improve it. You might shoot yourself in the foot stating all the things YOU think is wrong with your performance.
Other than that, definitely go to your boss and Ask if there is anything that you can do to improve on the work you've been doing. Take constructive criticism with a really good attitude and pay attention to instruction.
Tell your boss that you're open to any constructive advise re: job performance to ensure accuracy. |

I wouldn't sit down and analyze. I would sit down with your boss and let them know that you are feeling overwhelmed. Let it flow from there.
**Edit: maybe ask them for suggestions. this way you aren't pointing out your faults but you are finding out what they feel your faults are. |

Asking your boss for help is a most powerful way to make him/her aware that you take your job seriously. First however, prepare your talk with him/her, ask yourself what makes your heart tick in your work and what doesn't. Ask yourself in what field you need help from him/her. The best way is to start at what is specifically going to be so out blown obvious to everybody. That will be his first complaint about you, so that is the starting point of your discussion. The result should be that you know where you and your boss want to end up and how you want to get there. Start with a change of your behaviour (you can only change your own behaviour, not someone elses) and periodically keep in touch with your boss from there.
Good luck.
P.S. MOST IMPORTANT: in every conversation, start with a positive mindset and SMILE |

It's more professional if you sit down with your boss and discuss your faults even though he doesn't know. If he is a good boss he will be reasonable and try to work something out for you. That's what I would do. Plus, if he was also a good boss, he would thank you for telling him your faults and try to help you improve them. Unless it's something major, as in, you suck so bad at your job that there is no way he can help you kinda thing, then I don't see why not to quit.
What Im trying to say is, tell your boss your faults and he will thank you and try to help you. |

I don't think it would be a bad thing to sit down with your boss and discuss your feelings about your job. He/she would almost certainly appreciate your honesty, and might be willing to work with you to ease your load. It would show your boss that you're concerned about your performance, and that reflects well on you. Supervisors tend to remember things like that when it's time for a raise, bonus, or promotion.
Besides, as previously stated, a job in the current economy is a great thing. Hang on to it, even if you decide to look for employment elsewhere. It's much easier to find a job when you have a job.
Best to you. |

You need to be thankful you have a job in today's world!! Try to do your best and keep up with what you can...you are only one person. If you are feeling overwhelmed and have the opportunity to discuss it with your boss, then do so...otherwise, how are they to know? |

Talk to your boss honestly, its far better to get a dialogue going than to wait and hope nobody notices |

Wait until they fire you so if you need unemployment you can get it. I hate to put it like that but it's a tough job market these days. |

if you don't feel comfortable speaking to your boss, and pointing out your faults, then why not buy some books that might help you, do some research and see if you can improve by yourself. Don't quit, just see this as a challenge and strive to improve. There might be a night class at your local college which will help you.
If you're more specific about what you are struggling with I may be able to suggest some tips on coping better with these tasks. Could it be possible that they are giving you too much to do? |

Hold up and take it easy! You did not say how long you have been at the job or what you were doing, But quiting any job at this point would be foolish with the economy as it is right now. If your going to lose the job by them letting you go is one thing but quiting is totally another thing and Don't do it. If the boss or other workers are making comments about your work they do that to get you to quit so he won't have to pay unemployment. You may go 6 months or more before you get another job. can you live 6 months with no income. Most can not so hang in there ignore the criticism and stay at the jo until they fire you. |

if you like the job and want to keep it try harder and remember you can only do so much and as long as you try your best it will show in your work...don't quit something you like... do you know how many people wake up everyday and hate the job that they do but have no other choice..your lucky to like it |
