....It better to work for some one than it is to own ... Due. to the fact the owner has repairers and fuel and road taxes.... As a paid driver you don't have these worries....So its better to work for some one else.....same money less aggravation

Used to be the owner/op. Nowadays, with fuel prices and technologically advanced trucks (that cost an arm and a leg to fix and you can't do it yourself).....it's the company driver.
HOWEVER....the one exception I'd say is the established, SPECIALIZED owner operator. Household movers, stage show drivers, specialized oversize/heavy haul, exotic/classic car haulers, trade show and convention/exhibit haulers. Most of the folks who haul this stuff ARE owner ops....and they make a darn good living.
But the days of being able to make a killing owning your own truck and hauling dry freight (or even refrigerated, anymore)....are long, long gone.
