Purple Burps | In what does one have to major in college to become a CEO of a company? |
|

Business Administration is a good area to obtain an well-rounded business education.
Usually, the prime mission of a company will spell out where the top executives come from. For example, tech companies may want engineers, retailer may want marketing majors, finance companies may want finance majors.
However, the more diverse your background, the better. |

Two academic areas seem to be ideal for someone from no where to become a CEO:
Engineers- hence the term 'disappearing engineers', as they vanish into higher level management positions. Of all areas, mechanical engineers have the best employment prospects, however you have to have a real interest in the subject.
Accounting- another four year degree like engineering which has much better prospects than most other 4 year degrees.
Note: from what I understand, marketing is one of the few college degrees you can spend only one hour of study for every hour in the classroom and get a B average. The employment prospects are dim. What you put into building your selfup matches what you get out. |

This is a tough question to answer. You may rephrase it along the lines of "what do CEO's need to know to manage their companies?"
Marketing & Finance seem to come to mind. A CEO has to know the numbers and marketplace. The rest can come from support people. |

You have to major in KISSING *** with a discipline in SUCKING COCK, and a minor in SCREWING PEOPLE OVER.
You also need some knowledge in PRETENDING TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. |

The greatest percentage of CEOs in the Fortune 50 are engineers by training. So, all things being equal, you should start with an engineering degree. |

Probably economics, business, marketing, somewhere in that area. |
