Stop complaining about their record profits.... Bush and the Republican said they were going to use the experts from the big oil companies to formulate their energy policy and can't you see???? It worked!!! They are rich..... RECORD profits.
Profits were never this good under Clinton..... Thank the Republicans. Big oil could buy almost all Yahoo in one year's worth of profits. And don't forget since these companies offshore their money (like Halliburton moving to Dubai) they will pay hardly any US taxes at all meanwhile they get huge so called "tax cut" rebates to fill their little stockings even more... Don't you just love----- government sponsored corporate welfare schemes? |

how much is this on a per share basis. That way, you'd know how much each individual shareholder was making.
in general the Price/earnings ratio for exxon is 11.46. that means you pay 11.46 $ for each 1 dollar you earn in dividents. its last divident was $1.46 (usually each quarter) or 6.8% return on an annual basis.....not much better than a CD
so yes, the numbers are big, but so is the company...its global and getting bigger...but its profits aren growing anymore.
Its like your parents giving you1000 a year in allowance....sounds like a lot...but on a monthly basis its still only 20$ a week. a 60 dollar raise sounds like a lot, but it results in only $1.20 a week. you cant buy a latte' for that. maybe and Itune.

That is enough money to pay the wages of 80,000 middle class workers for a year (at 50k a year for workers) Some of the largest companies in the US don't even make 40b gross revenue (income before expenses) yes, that is probably a corporate record for yearly profit, if not close to it then |
