They're not going out of business because the govt. will cover their losses on loans gone bad. The govt. opted for bailing them out because (or excused by) the risk that the absence of these two companies would bring on several industries. However, that ends up favoring people who gave bad credit to start out.

It means that people who tell you that "communism and socialism are bad" dont really believe it.
These big companies fail and we the people bail them out. The oil companies and businesses like Walmart who are making record profits get tax breaks though....and move their money offshore to not pay money on it.
"Socialism" is bad when it means giving all citizens affordable health care, but it is good when we are bailing out failing companies? It is hypocrisy plain and simple.

They have been gobbled up by the govt. They call it a govt bail out but it reality the tax payers of this country are keeping Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae alive. If any other company that conducted poor business such as these comapanies did, they would have just crashed and burned. Its pretty bogus.
