I think they are and will become more powerful as our society moves more and more towards being operated by computers. With offices trying and some succeeding on going to a paperless work enviroment, and with windows holding 97% of the computer market in OS's, they will only continue to grow. Plus they continue to dominate the market with thier Office and other business targeted software. |

No, they come in third. The winner goes to the church and with the Pub coming in a close second. |

Probably not, as other sources will eventually come up with better and cheaper software. De Beers is probably the most successful in the long run. They have almost a monopoly on the world diamond trade, and as the result of restricting/controlling demand versus price, they have warehouses full of raw diamonds. |

Define successful. Are they really successful? In terms of what? Anyway, I don't feel they are the most successful. Personal opinion. |

Microsoft still has to pay taxes, payroll ect...The Mormons have the most successful business. No taxes, no payroll and every member gives 10% of their income. Now THAT is a successful business. |

No, there have been numerous more successful businesses measured by turnover, number of employees/customers, profits, global spread, etc., but few if any of them have made so many of their top people multi-millionaires as has Microsoft. |
