Is Target right to ban the Salvation Army?

NO WAY!!!

It's not a ban on the Salvation Army. It's a ban on all solicitors. To be fair, if they ban one, they have to ban them all. And I, for one, like that I don't get accosted every time I walk in to the store.
So yes, I think Target is right to ban solicitors (and yes, the Salvation Army).

Target had to ban the Salvation Army because other organizations were going to sue them for not letting them solicit.

HOWEVER, Target is also donating a big chunk of change to Salvation Army, and does other promotional work with them

They will have a virtual giving tree, and donate $1,000,000 (withoug the salvation army paying bell ringers, yes, you did know that they are paid, right?)

Don't diss what you don't know.

Yes, every company reserves the right to deny pan handling.

I heard about that that is the bell ringers correct? I do not know perhaps you can find out why they are banning them. Target is socially responsible so there must be a reason. Write them if it bothers you and see what they do. Call them also. Perhaps they will reconsider if people ask for it.

YES - Way!

A business has the right to run however it sees fit.

Mariposa
Yes. To ban everyone from soliciting, they have to ban the good guys too or it wouldn't be fair.

They, as a store that responds to their customers, are obviously responding to customers' request that they not be accosted at the door every time they shop there. I give money every year to the Salvation Army at Christmastime. They are indeed a worthy organization, but I find them outside every discount and grocery store in town, and I find myself feeling guilty if I don't contribute every time the bell rings. If you walk past them, you look like you are selfish to other people around you. I will not miss seeing them outside the Target store. Actually might make me shop there more---(I gave to the bell ringers this evening outside of Kroger and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. Guess they need to get ready for Christmas early)

I personally don't think it's right to ban the Salvation Army for obvious reasons. It's the holiday season and there are families out there that have close to nothing for Christmas and all these people are trying to do is help put a smile on someone's face. Have a heart!
