Confidence is low to due to layoffs and a slumping stock market, but that's not what a recession is. |

I heard a report today that said that we were in a recession. Who knows what will happen to the real estate. There are sooo many homes on the market along with tons of foreclosures. I guess its prime season for a buyer to get a house for a smaller sales price. I don't know what's going to happen, but I hope it doesn't last long. |

The recession questions depends on where you live. I live in Michigan where yes... we are in a recession right now. Some people say we are in a one state recession. So, that is a hard question to answer. real estate will continue to go down as the USA is still recovering from the Sub Prime mortgage collapse a few years ago. A lot of people's credit was hurt because of the collapse and therefore making it hard for them to get a new mortgage or refinance if their house was not foreclosed on yet. Since there are a lot of houses on the foreclosure list there is more supply then demand making the value of houses fall. |

The whole country is not in a recession, but some states or cities may have local or regional recessions going on. The national economy is still growing, but slowly. This means a recession may be on the way, but it has not hit yet. I live in Michigan, and some would say we are in a statewide recession. However, even within Michigan it depends on the area. I live in western Michigan where things are not nearly as bad as in the Detroit area. The technical definition of a recession is a shrinking economy for two quarters in a row.
A recession usually causes real estate to decline, but not always. In most areas, real estate is already declining, which is one reason we are in danger of having a recession. |

in realestate beole aer spending money they don't have A.K.A. Credit Cards. they then take out a loan to pay off the credit card debt then don't pay back the bank. now the banks arn't giving out loans so noone is buying houses or selling them |
