No. Two thirds of Wal-mart's employees are female, yet less than 15% of them hold management positions and less than 10% of them hold store management positions. By Wal-Mart's own admissions in papers that they have released to the State of California in the largest class-action lawsuit in progress in HISTORY, they are "behind the times in gender equality within their stores."
Not to mention that they push over 2 BILLION (with a B) dollars off on the American federal government in healthcare expenses on a YEARLY basis by hiring on a mostly part-time basis and actually include instructions on applying for welfare and medicaid in new employee orientation packets. They also destroy small businesses in every market that they enter and bring the living wage down considerably in every area that they intrude upon.

My guess is you will get a lot of bad responses to this question from anti-walmart people.
Its a retail job so it's not top of the food chain, but its a great place to start and to get a work history/reference and move up the chain. |

Their benefits suck. They are cheapskates.
But, a job is better than no job. Go for it if you have to but maybe just as an in-between job. |

Congratulations on the new job! I guess its alright if you don't abuse your discount at the McDonald's and spend your paycheque AT wal-mart. Its not really an ideal long term job however. I hope you like it many of my friends honesty hate the job and that is because of little pay. |

well unless the Canada stores are different.....
a friend of mine works there. he has been in retail for 20 years , Wal Mart for about 5. He has been passed over for promotions I dont know how many times. Benefits are terrible. They are cutting their overall # of full time associates so they can pay less, dont have to provide benefits or give vacation pay. Alos, being sick is no longer a valid reason to call off. After I believe 3 call offs you have to write an essay on why you want to work for Wal Mart. |

Wal-Mart is notorious for treating workers poorly, making them work through their breaks and work overtime without pay. They ruin local economies, drive out the mom & pop stores, sell product made in third world countries by child labourers. They are the lowest of the low. Anyone who shops there is contributing to the downfall of their countrys economy. Wal Mart makes people poor and then uses their poverty as an excuse for their actions by claiming their low prices help the very people who they forced into poverty. |

Yes, yet you can use this as a stepping stone to move on to bigger and better things. I find going to school for a more solid career or medical career would be solid. I did the Mc Donalds type thing and a store is fun but after a while you want to be solid add established ad a little less dealing with the public customer is all ways right thing really gets to you. As you will see but you do not hate dealing with people. YOU grow from the experience you are going to need it for tomorrow to start the hard study to be secure. I wish I did not stay with the stores as long as I did...I was 20 then but I am 40 now and I am paying dearly for the choice to have fun and be part time....in my youth. |
