lol i had to laugh at postal p comment....what store did you go to that was run by fear? i happen to enjoy where i work at,if i didnt enjoy my job at least a little bit,id find another...now back to the question if by ethical are you meaning race ,gender ,religion ect? well at our store we actually have less people there that are white,i cant actually say white though because even white people are from different countries what is the right term anyways? i mean im german and irish sooo ,we have more spanish speaking (from different countries),philipenos( spelling?) a few tegali (spelling) couple from japan...and probably some others that i forgot to mention ( and yeah the store is in america)...religion? walmart doesnt concern itself with religion as long as it isnt hurting anyone,gender? nahhh..as far as buying from China ...ALL of the companies are buying and manufacturing overseas...its cheaper and the companies can pass the savings onto the consumer( see link below for more info)..want to get walmart back into buying american? then start supporting the american economy and buy american ONLY....you do know that walmart and the other retailers only buy overseas because YOU the consumer insists on it by buying foriegn products,they are only stocking what you are wanting to buy..- walmart associate |

NO! The workers have no rights. They run the place on fear and intimidation. They force the people to work off the clock to finish up the day. They are low paid with almost no benefits. They sell tons of low priced chinese made products. They are about as anti-american as you can get. |

there have been several large, well publicized class action lawsuits on behalf of walmart employees who claim (and were proven correct) that they were urged to work overtime, and then didn't get paid for it. the walmart 'associates' get horrible benfits that take a huge chunk out of their paycheck.
they are not paid well, and forced into sitting through all kinds of BS lectures about teh WalMart mission, etc etc.
From what i hear, no, it is not an ethical company. but they are profit driven and they answer to there shareholders. they are a huge company with plenty of leverage for negotiations over their employees, who they do not allow to unionize. |
