Gary H | Is Wal-mart really a good deal for America.? |
Wal -Mart, america's #1 retailer, saves everyone money that shops there. But is it really a good deal for America. I dont think its what this country really needs. Wal-Mart, forces companies to low bid ther products if they want to do business with Wal-mart, and if you dont your company will more than likely go bust.. This is forceing companies to hire illegal's at low paying salary to be able to compete thus forcing the job market down for all areas of the country. What are americans to do, but cheap at wal-mart or pay higher prices? |

its a hard question you ask. they hire lots of people at low wages, but they provide a great service: cheap goods. but these goods are made in other countries, mainly China. i think i would rather pay slightly higher prices for stuff made in america, so i will vote that Wal-Mart is bad |

I would rather hear this when walking out the door: "thank you for shopping at target/k-mart. Walmart is an evil empire that does things that sam walton would never go for if he was still alive...walmart practices sexual harrasment daily from managers to female employees and vice versa...the managers dont have very good people skills toward customers when they have a problem with something...I bought something from walmart and I had to contact corporate offices twice, the first time was for the incorrect pricing and manager rudeness(when I told her I was gonna call corporate she said 'I don't care go ahead' second time the store manager called my house and was rude to my fiance |

It seems when a corporation becomes big, it becomes target for undeserved criticism. We have heard "Microsoft is evil" before. However, in fact these companies contribute a lot to the economy in terms of tax and employment. Is it true that when a company become biggest, we have to shut it down?
If you look at other retailers such as kmart, target, costco, they also choose the best price from suppliers, and also import lots of goods from countries in Asia and South America.
Walmart was able to give consumers low prices because it has a very effective supply chain management. They use good technologies and software to optimize process in transportation, packaging, and shelving. They have the largest data warehouse in united states. They are able to predict buying trends, and fill up their shelves better than other companies.
I would vote yes for walmart that it is good deal for America. It promotes competition, employment and technology better than other companies. |

Wal-Mart doesn't force suppliers to do anything. If a company engages in illegal labor practices simply because it wants to supply Wal-Mart, that's the responsibility of that company, not Wal-Mart.
Neither do people have a "right" to low prices or a job. Wal-Mart is an excellent deal for this great, freedom-loving, laissez-faire (mostly) Capitalist nation. |
