Is Walmart Really Evil?
I want to know why many people say Walmart is evil.

Walmart wouldn't be here if it weren't for the masses that support it.

It wasn't until the seventies or so that everyone started feeling like they just couldn't do without all that plastic crap - but for thousands of years everyone else managed without it.

In the old days, people made due with what they had and saved up money for quality items. Walmart has given people the opportunity to get around that ideal.

Yeah low prices are great but Walmart is very aggressive and they lower prices to the point where they cant compete. You dont see Target and other companies going into rural communities and whipping everyone off the map, and i dont know if its true or not but ive heard many times that once they get a monopoly in a rural community the prices go right back up. and their prescription program is bullshit. Many of their $4 drugs cost more than $4 just for the pills, not to mention staff labor and stuff. I know at pharmacy I used to work one of their $4 drugs costed us $9, plus you have to tack on a few bucks for labor and overhead. They may even be losing a lot of money and doing it as a promotion just to get people in the store to buy stuff, and most other pharmacies cant compete with that. I'm sure its the same in many other places in the store. And I strongly beleive their program is dangerous. I havent seen any harm come from it personally but I have seen many of our customers continue to fill their prescription with us, then run to walmart because it is $3 cheaper over there. Its not a big deal for people on one or two drugs but when you get diseases like heart failure, people on warfarin, or other complicated regimens drug interactions can be a big deal and it would be statiscally foolish to say that their program probably hasnt caused harm to people.

oh, and if they care so much about healthcare and their employees, why did one of the largest companies in the world sue one of their former employees who was almost brain dead due to a car accident to get her entire $400k settlement (which she didnt even win from walmart) back a couple weeks ago?

Wal-Mart is a dumping ground for cheap Chinese crap into the US. Wal-Mart also cheats its employees.

People say that it is evil because it offers a variety of products at low prices. Local stores can not compete with this so they have to close. It ruins small businesses and specialty stores. However, it lets people buy things that they could not afford at other stores and people can do all of their shopping at one store.

Have you ever been to Wal-Mart? It basically screams evil. I mean between the fact that if you're ever lost in that store that you'll never find you're way out and that it is one of the few places where so many stupid people meet at the same time to do small tasks that never actually get done.

It's practically slave labour in every aspect (on this continent). But, hey, it gives people jobs so it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Wal-Mart has been criticized by some community groups, women's rights groups, grassroots organizations, and labor unions, specifically for its extensive foreign product sourcing, low rates of employee health insurance enrollment, resistance to union representation, and alleged sexism.

After the Indian Public Railway System, WalMart is the world's second largest employer, so anyone saying they are "evil" is either just plain dumb, or believes there are enough people SO desperate for jobs they will work for an "evil" employer, which is just plain stupid itself...

Most folks who think WalMart is evil believe that THEY have the right to free market choice, but that people poorer than them should not have the same choice. If we could push a button & make those folks disappear, the world would be a nicer place...

ronald.glass@sbcglobal.net
Those persons claiming that Walmart is evil are both stupid and immoral. They claim that: Walmart hurts the local mom and pop stores (true). Mom and pop have had their way with the consumer too long and have screwed both their employees and customers with inflated prices and no benefits for their employees. Now we the customers win with a low cost seller like Walmart and employment with benefits. The same benefits you get from Costco. PLEASE STOP THE IGNORANT PROSECUTION OF WALMART NOW.
