Everything is cheaper. They have the $4 prescription program. You can buy anything all at one place. They save us lots of money. Employment there is voluntary, no one is forced. And there are worse jobs.
So why is Walmart getting such a bum rap? |

Yes it is. I worked for them. Don't ever do that. I got out (quit) after 4 months and I wouldn't suggest applying for a place that treats human beings like slaves.
I remember seeing fellow co-workers working off the clock and guess what if they don't clock out the managers will go into their computers and manipulate time punches and only pay you for the hours you were scheduled.
They work you every weekend (with no exceptions) and then pay you pennies. They keep employees as part time on paper, but work them like full time.
As for shopping there I'm all for it. Get in and get out and treat the cashier with respect and dignity. |

~~I watched a documentary on Walmart which really disgusted me. They use every available tax payer cost type of insurance benefit to offer their employees to keep from having to provide decent medical insurance to their workers. They buy from companies and take so long to pay their bills it almost bankrupts the wholesalers. They buy from very questionable wholesalers. They saturate areas and their low prices put many competing business' out, and then raise their prices back up-eliminate the competition and then charge what you want. I do not believe it's anywhere the corporation is was meant to be when Sam Walton was alive. Their stores are poorly maintained. I just see a huge conglomerate with the upper echelon getting richer and screwing the people and customers while they do it!~~ |

They are the face of the modern American corporation. I don't think they're any worse than any other American company, although I don't really think too highly of any american company anymore. I'm not even sure if anything is actually MADE, not assembled, in america anymore. Even Budweiser has sold out to the Dutch. |

The problem is the cost. The minimum the cost of products, the high the control over prices. For example, a deal with chinese contractor for 5 cents a cup, and buying 10000, cups, make you sell those cups all over the year, without the effects of market fluctuations. Wal Mart has money, and has really lowest cost producers all over the world, this makes it a huge control over prices, and so on. Don't forget the lower the prices, the more happier customers. Especially, in like these inflationary days in US. |

Walmart forces other companies to move their product to China then if they wo'nt comply they will try to put them out of business. Yes Walmart is bad Sam Walton had no intention to do this kind of business. Sam believe american jobs first then when he died the company switch it's direction. |

I suppose it might have something to do with how they are able to provide us with such cheap products. I could be wrong, but I think I heard that they get such good deals because they're buying from companies in foreign markets that are basically like sweat shops. People working for pennies with no breaks, no workman's comp, no health insurance... Walmart might be supporting a horrible work environment. Is that really sustainable? Would you want it to be? I wonder what else could they be doing to get such good deals? They might just have a lot of buying power. I really don't know. |

The documentary of Walmart was obviously "agenda driven". We all have choices in life. Some people decide not to have children when they are young, get a college education, and avoid having to work at Walmart. Some have children when they are young, work 2 jobs, get an education and quit working at Walmart. The documentary on Walmart had a lot of cry babies. I have put up with a lot of crap in the corporate world, which at times made me feel like I was back in High School. I dealt with it, worked hard, and now have a nice management job. WE ALL HAVE CHOICES. If you don't like Walmart, then spend the extra money, and shop somewhere else. Quit using everyone else' money (aka getting government to go after Walmart, suing, etc,) which cost the rest of us! |
