Walmart is the devil!
They drive many American businesses out of business... because their "price rollback" means they can't make enough money on their products. So these business move to another country or just shut down their doors.
Also, walmart is horrible to their employees - health care? what's that? and, a friend of mine was kept at 37.5 hours (or something) a week, 1/2 hour shy of full time, just so they wouldnt have to give her health care.

No. Do you mean that making people feel inferior to others because the label on their jeans is not what 'everyone is wearing'? Wal-Mart gives you what you NEED, not some stupid hyped up vision of what you WANT. |

Walmart gives employment oppritunities to just about any body of any qualification. Wether you're from the ages where there was no need for a high school diploma, or struggling to make ends meet while you're in college, you can always count on Walmart to give better wages than mall retail, which doesn't care about your lifestyle.
Personally, I think mall retail is the more evil of the two. Think about it, in order to get a job as a sales associate, you have to be good looking, afford nice clothing, and be able to schedule your life around an inconvenient work schedule only for a few dollars more than minimum wage.
When you apply at walmart, you don't even have to speak english. If you were an immagrant, legal or not, and yoget rejected by the mall, just go to walmart. They pay you more to do work that has far less stress and works around your schooling or child caring schedule. You also get raises more freaquently and have a higher chance of becoming full time, which is a bigger problem than most people think.
When I was 19, I was the only straight sales associate at Victoria's Secret, which is the dream job of any young adult male. Had I not been ofered a job by an auto auction, I would have left Victoria's Secret for Walmart.
More hours.
Better hours.
More for the hour. |

Bad. On the one hand, it gives you cheap products, which is good. On the other hand, it drives small stores--toy stores, small grocery stores, hardware stores, craft stores, etc., etc., out of business. So there is less choice, and the old downtowns are gone. And then, it hires lots of people at the lowest possible wages. All these things are bad. Now Starbucks--at least sells really good coffee! |

On the macrolevel, Walmart runs over small, thriving businesses. That's the downside BUT I can't say it's bad. |

Walmart is horrible...the super-centers have the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Some interesting stats...over 70% of walmart employees qualify for some type of government assistance. I will pay a few extra dollars and buy a few less things at a locally owned business than shop at walmart!!! |

I don't think so. Yes, they are everywhere but they also give a lot of people an opportunity to have a job. |
