Is bp oil sold on the open market?

I'm sure it is. I just wanted to check first. If anyone could supply me with links.

It actually is...there are several BP gas stations throughout the US.

The movie knowing Predicted it before it happened.Know is about a piece of paper that was written 60 years before, in the movie and it listed all these disasters. Kind of strange that this was in the movie.

Oil is a homogeneous product. What this means is that all oil is essentially the same no matter where it comes from or who drilled it. Because oil works this way, all oil is processed through the same refineries, the same pipelines, and the same transportation network in any given region. So if you live in California for example your oil may have originally come from Africa, Russia, the US, or anywhere else and it may have been drilled by Exxon, BP, or anyone else and there is absolutely no way to tell.

That is what is so depressing about the BP gas station strikes. Everyone wants to protest BP by boycotting their products. Unfortunately since oil is homogeneous the gasoline they are boycotting is a big mix of gasoline from a variety of different sources including many different regions and drilled by many different companies.

Meanwhile they choose to fill up their tanks across the street at the Exxon gas station where a good portion of the gasoline that they are filling their tanks with probably came from BP. Additionally most BP gas stations are owned by locals, not by BP. The locals just enter into contracts with BP for the franchise brand name, that's all. This is not a very significant part of BP's business.

Yes BP's oil is sold on the open market to refineries. After that it is mixed with everyone else's oil and is no longer separately identifiable.
