Nope. Many times its the same gas. I grew up in an oil refinery town. The tanker trucks come and fill up and then drive to each of the gas stations they deliver too. Guess what? Same gas from the refinery. Same tanker truck. Different gas stations. Now that being said there is always a change that the gas station itself may keep its underground gas storage compartments cleaner than others or that the gas station itself adds things to the gas but I used to work for a big name gas station and I've never seen that done. |

not necessarily, remember that independent gas stations buy what the tankers trucks have left. say a shell tanker truck fills up a shell station but still has, maybe 500 gallons left, the driver can go to an independent station and sell it to them at a lower price just to empty the truck and go back for a full load. so the gas at an independent station can have a mix of different brands. no better no worse. |

Sometimes yes. Some of the smaller one's try to save a buck and can cause your fuel filter to clog because it's not quality gas. |

the only difference is additives. For instance - California only has 9 refineries. Oil companies buy gas from various refineries, put their own name on it and add mostly phoney-balony additives which unnecessarily add cost to the product.
For 99.9% of the vehicles on the road, buy the cheapest, lowest octane gas and you will do just fine. If you fall into the 0.1%, then you can afford the higher priced gas. (so quite bitchin') |

Most gas stations get their gas from the same companies so it doesn't really matter if its a big name gas station or not. |

You can't even always be sure that a major brand station is selling that company's gasoline.
In Louisville, Kentucky recently some BP stations were caught selling gas from another supplier and they were forced to remove the BP logo from their signs. |

all gas that comes into the US has to meet certain qualifications before it can even be distributed. If it is bad in any way in which it may harm a vehicle then it will be destroyed or disposed of. name brand companies do, however, add certain additives to their gas to make it better and whatnot. you would just have to check it out at the individual gas stations. but off brand gas is still good for your car, just without the extra good stuff in it. i'm a girl so i don't know the technical terms for this, but i know what i'm talking about. |
