Is it hard to be a cashier at wal mart?
I was a cashier at wal mart for a while, but then I quit because I didn't like the people I worked with. Now they have built a supercenter (the one i worked at was not a supercenter). I was just curious what the difference is between the two. Is the pay any higher. How do you scan the produce? Just some info would be a great help. Thanks

I doubt that the pay would be higher at a supercenter, they would just need more wal mart employees. As to scanning the produce I would think it would be the same way that my local grocery store does it currently. They look up the produce code in a booklet that they have at the register (if Wal Mart doesn't have a sticker on the produce that says what the code is), enter it into the register system and weigh it on a scale at the register.

Pay is probably the same if it is in the same area (not same exact location, but same town). Scan produce? You weight it and enter in the code on the sticker that is stuck to the produce itself. You don't buy groceries, do you? LOL! All produce at Walmart has a sticker on it with a code. A few items (greens, etc) do not, but you have a cheat sheet to look it up on. As long as you know the difference between collard greens and a head of broccoli, you are ok.

I personally would walk dogs and scoop poop before working at Walmart, though.

it is hard to be any type of cashier because of some of the cosutomers you meet especially the very rude ones

Being a cashier per se is not very hard but it's the customers that make the job a *****! I know, I have 5 years of experience!

Missy
The pay may be higher since you have previous experience. To scan produce the produce usually has a sticker on it with the UPC numbers or if not they provide you with a chart that has all the produce you carry on it!! The hours you work may vary depending on if you want the early shift or late shift.....but it is pretty much the same as far as everything else!! Good Luck!!

It's very well known that people who work at Walmart are among the most exploited Americans in the workplace. I would like to give you a friendly suggestion to find work ANYWHERE ELSE, because you'll probably be wealthier and happier if you do.

And a little more happiness in the world is a good thing.

Hope it's yours.

Good Luck Mate

You didn't like the people who worked there so you quit. Do you think at a bigger Walmart the people will be different? If you have a pulse, Walmart will hire you. Sorry, but most of the associates I've ever seen in a Walmart (customers too) barely have a high school education. I don't shop at Walmart because of that. Going into a Walmart is like getting brain damage. Hard to recover from. I will happily pay 5 cents more for toilet paper at a store where the employees are treated better and a have a high IQ.
