Yes, I would. While I'm not sure it's illegal to spout racism, unfortunately, everyone has a right to work in an environment free from harassment.
What your co-worker is doing is creating hostile environment for you, which is considered a form of harassment. You need to let your employer know immediately so they can take corrective action. Be prepared for her to deny it. It'll be a double whammy if there were other witnesses, which I'm guessing probably were because someone would have to be really stupid to say that alone to a person of color.
If you experience any adverse action from this (i.e. termination, demotion), let me know. I'll let you know what to do next.
I'm sorry you've had to experience this. |

Any racist remarks at work (whether or not they offend someone) can be taken up with your superiors. If that doesn't work then take it up with their superiors and finally go to the Better Business Bureau. All positions should be Equal Opportunity Employer.. Check to see in your local area. |

It is discrimination and yes, it would be very appropriate to speak with your boss about it. |

It is not ILLEGAL to express racism at work (first amendment and all of that) but it is definitely WRONG, and you should by all means take it up with your boss. At least it could make the person stop saying these types of things at work and depending on your company rules they may be able to be fired.
I can see where you would be nervous to bring it up, however. Depeding on the size of your company and other things, the person could know it was you, and that would be weird and awkward, right? But think about it this way--it's already weird and awkward for you and if it's going to be like that anyway you might as well say something. |

You do what you think is right. If I were you I'd tell the boss. White isn't the only race out there, and she should respect that. |

Talk to your boss. Rascism is unaccepted behavior from anyone at all work places. |

If it causes a hostile work environment then it will be handled by human resources if it is reported. Since you probably will continue to be uncomfortable working with this person, I would suggest mentioning it to your boss, then going to human resources (since bosses sometimes try to sweep things under the rug), so she can be disciplined or possibly fired. Hopefully you will at least be able to be situated in a part of the workplace where you will have minimum contact with her. |

OMG yes you should bring this to the attention to your boss or human resources!!! That is so not acceptable! I am proud of you that you didn't smack her! lol good luck with that situation. |

don't take it up with your boss, deal with the fact that everyone has their own worldview and even a racist deserves happiness and a job as much as the next guy.
i'll bet if you let me examine all of your beliefs, i could find something that offended the hell out of me, but i wouldn't be a crybaby about it.
in my mind, you making a scene about it puts you on the level of the person who offended you. |
