Diligent S | Is it illegal to interview with a company when you've been flown out by a different company? |
I'm being flown out by a company for an interview, and I'm wondering if it's illegal for me to interview with other companies while I'm there. |

If you interview as planned with the company that flew you out, what you do on your own time is up to you. As far as interviewing with other companies, it's not illegal, but probably unethical. |

Un-ethical, Yes.
Illegal, No.
But, with today's job and money situation, I'd do it also.
Make the trip productive. |

I see nothing wrong with it if you go to the interview with the one paying your expenses. They might not offer you the job, but one of the other companies might.
If you accepted the job with the one paying for the trip, then you should not back out or interview for other jobs. It might not be illegal, but it would be unethical. |

No. But it's helly unethical and if your current employer finds out then they can demand you repay the fees associated with the visit. At which point you would have no choice but to, because taking them to court would cost you more and you will lose. Not to mention you will most definitely lose your job and a good reference. |

Today, ethics don't matter. Dishonesty and selfish behavior has no effect on the general economy, so go for it!
By the way, please vote for Obama or McCain. If Ron Paul gets in, we all have to work for a living to support ourselves.
