stupidity reigns.
Look at what is offered to foolish Americans at the gas stations (C-Stores) and then you'll come to understand why otherwise smart people pay obscene amounts to be "cool" as they are seen with a silly logo cup.

Because there is money to be made from overpriced and oversugared coffee of Starbucks.
Consider these numbers
- The average customer spends $4.05 per visit for coffee; while the average fast food restaurant visitor spends $4.34 for an entire meal.
- For a cup that costs $3.40, at least 40 cents is profit. With the new "small cup" their 10 ounce cup (after bumping off the 8 ounce cup from their offerings), profit increased by 25 cents per cup for only 2 cents of added product
- Starbucks has had 14 straight years with at least 5% same store sales |

Yes it is. And Starbucks is showing up everywhere, and spreading like a cancer. When you see a Starbucks in the forbidden city in China, or replacing the quaint bistros and cafés in France, you know it's too much.
But then again Walmart, and McDonalds are doing the same thing. As long as people buy their products this will happen.
Starbucks destroys culture and uniqueness in some places, but if people keep buying their $4 lattés, this trend will continue. |
