Berto Ballin' | Is it reasonable to ask CEO's of failing companies to not receive bonuses and huge salaries? |
It is just crazy to me seeing how much money some of the CEO's made last year of companies that asked for bailouts.
I use to always get upset seeing how much some of the professional athletes make but at least I know there is a lot of money going into there sport.
How do you get a bonus when your company is failing? |

I believe that ALL the major executives of failing companies should take a DEEP salary cut and NO bonuses. In this Country we pay for performance -- no performance, no pay. We have forgotten this principal in the last 20 years!!!
I also believe that professional athletes should take pay cuts when their performance is less than stellar. Why should we pay HIGH seat rates so a mediocre player can make $1 million a game? Or, pay higher taxes so a sports franchisee can have a new stadium given to him.?
We have been TOO complacent in the US and we are now paying for the lack of attention given to BIG MONEY. |

It depends on the CEO's contract and prior performance and how much you want to retain his services. Is he responsible for the company failing? |

CEO should be well compensated according to his or her performance. If your employees are not compensated companies tend to loose the best of their intellectual talent. In my opinion, current economic conditions coupled with Financial crisis and lack of investors confidence are responsible for poor financial performance not Poor executive Judgment. Thus I believe that CEO compensation should be reduced to reflect poor economic conditions not poor judgment. (unless poor judgement was exercised) |

it would depend on the company the CEO works for and how detrimental its failing would be during the economic crisis. |

I think CEO Bonuses are only acceptable if every other employee of the company receives a bonus equivalent to a similar percentage of their salary. A CEO is like any other worker, they just have more responsibility, that is why they receive a higher base salary. If they are receiving a bonus for the performance of a company, it is only fair that the employees receive one too, as without employees a company will not function, every employee of a company contributes to the success of said company, so they should all receive the benefits of success |

if i were a CEO and got no pay i would quit!
I think the shareholders have to set goals, like increase revenue/sales by 20% or whatever at the beggining of the year and offer the CEO pay if he reaches those goals, otherwise no soup! |

Did anyone notice that we had a major financial crisis, caused by illegal action by Wall Street, and no one goes to prison. We are arguing back and forth about CEO salaries when we should be sorting out the ones who broke the law. They took our money and gave it to themselves while screwing their employees. We need to wake up in this country and realize that the people bankrupting us are not illegal immigrants working for $2.00 an hour. |
