the chairman decides on matters of policy, like where the company should be heading. the ceo carries out those polices & handles the day-to-day operations. often they are one and the same.

I can't help with the Spanish, but the Chairman is usually the Chairman or Chairperson of the Board of Directors and the CEO is the Chief Executive Officer. Sometimes the positions may be held by the same person.

For a definition of CEO, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEO

The Chairman is the head of the board that makes decisions for the company on behalf of its shareholders.

The CEO is the acting head of the company who oversees day-to-day operations.

Chairman-The head of the corporation. Usually the founder or the investor with the most amount of stock.

CEO-Also known as chief executive officer is the main supervisor or president of the company.

In most cases the Chairman and CEO are the same person.

wghtbear1
Chairman means he's head of the stock board and CEO is Chief Executive Officers which is the head of a corporation he out ranks the president of the company and in either one of the company founders or major stock holder. He could also be some one brought in to run the company like Lee Iacoca who was CEO of Ford and Chrysler in the 1980's.

CEO son las siglas utilizadas para nombrar el cargo del director ejecutivo o director general de una empresa. Es sin duda una denominación muy en boga, sobre todo en las empresas tecnológicas estadounidenses, aunque cada vez se extiende más por el mundo.
CHAIRMAN presidente

good luck and take a look to this.
I'm looking for an investor to help me.

Mr Unknowable
The correct answer is sometimes the Chairman and the CEO are the same person/thing.

Essentially, if the person who is the most important (like the owner/founder of the company) wishes to take a title for his/her position, often they will choose CEO (Chief Executive Officer). This person may also be the Chairman (Executive Director and biggest shareholder in the company), El Presidente que non?

Sometimes these positions are filled by more than one person. Say if a family controls a large business, like an Airline company. The founder of the company will most likely be the CEO (has ultimate control with power to override any other person!). The Chairman (and this person can be a man or a woman!) would then be the son/daughter/nephew/niece who wields executive control over everybody except the CEO. The plan is for the younger person to learn the business and eventually take over.

Thus the CEO es El Presidente, always.

The Chairman es Numero Dos, sometimes. If nobody else is good enough, then El CEO will also be EL Chairman!

Viva el capitalism!

The R
most time people are chairman and ceo but sometimes they are different.... the ceo is the chief executive officer and the chairman is the chairman of the board of directors
