Hibee
Is it time to boycott Tescos now they've voted against RSPCA standards for their chicken farms?
Additional Details Marc C.....the RSPCA do not require free range.....just better than Tesco's "industry standard".
If you as a consumer feels that strongly about then yes by all means boycott, but Tesco are only providing what the consumer wants, if no one bought the value chickens then Tesco wouldnt sell them as it would be unprofitable to do so.
However I was watching a recent report, on the BBC I think, where the RSPCA certified a farm despite it failing to meet their standards in a number of ways, such as there were dead chickens on the floor, there were too many chickens in one shed, and the chickens were not let out by a certain for excercise, and were under fed...
So even if we do buy RSPCA standard chickens it is necessarily worth much if th RSPCA are not making farms enforce these standards.

I boycotted them years ago.

sadly with the budget i am on, i couldnt afford to boycott tesco, and there is no telling if all the supermarkets are doing the same..........
now, wheres my chicken drummer???? (joke)
Marc C
think how much land would be needed for every chicken to be freerange. then rethink your priorities of causes to follow.

To be honest the only people tescos care about are their shareholders. I'm not saying that the other supermarkets are much better but the way tescos treat their workers, customers and especially their suppliers is terrible. Personally I shop anywhere but tescos.
