Is it worthwhile working in a bank? i have to start at the bottom, as a teller.?
i left my teaching job to enter the corporate world, and i got a job as a teller in a bank. i have to work my way up from there.
yes. I have worked for a bank for the past four years. I started as a teller and I have been promoted many times and am now in sales making a great salary. The bank I work for is very big on retaining great employees and promoting from within.

The president at the Dime Savings Bank in Norwich CT started as a teller back in the 1970's. He is very successful & still down to earth. I'm sure that he would tell you..."It's worth it". He is in a position where he is able to help so many, & he does. I only suggest that you assess the reasons you are interested in banking. Good luck!

It is a good way to understand all the workings of the bank. They offer classes with the American Bankers Association, you can learn other things in the industry by people who are bank officers, etc. Eventually, you can move up to supervision, even an officer. Ask the personnel department at your bank about night classes.

If it isn't something that you want to do then is it really worth it? If you like working with money then that is a great job. If you like working with people that is a great job. If you are looking for a fast way to the top, then I don't think you are going to like that job.

Congratulations on having the nerve to switch occupations. Good luck.

It depends if you are in a small bank or a large one. There is a lot of room for advancement if you study up the the bank products. Most banks now want you to cross sell other products so you have to get a good sales pitch.
