Managing Director (MD) is the higher designation then director..
a company has couple of directors and 1 managing director..head of the board of the directors

It depends on the context. If both are in use at the same firm, then 'director' typically implies a member of the board of directors. In that context, it's definitely higher in rank than a managing director.
However, I've seen the title 'director' also used for those at the managing director level. Also seen the titles 'executive director' and 'associate director'. These both typically fall beneath a managing director. |

A Managing Director is usually the director in charge of the operations of a company it depends how much influence he has in such as money input into a company or shares held in that company if he is the top dog or not sometimes he can be the bunny if things go wrong but is usually paid a good sum to compensate a Director has less responsibility for day to day decision mainly policy stuff and once again can along with the Manager be held responsible can have plenty of power if his input shares etc are high but does not have to worry or work as hard..It depends on all Ive said who is bigger |
