unknown62008 | Is the Circuit City going out of bussiness sale worth going to? |
I'm thinking about going to Circuit City tomorrow to buy a Sony Bravia 26 inch TV. Will it be on sale for a good price or not? |

The sale was terrible. 10% off everything in the store. But the prices were the highest i had ever seen at CC. The discount price on Friday was higher than the normal store or online price. That was weird.. |

I would say so, i think the goal of the stores is to liquidate as much of their inventories as possible. Granted, you aren't going to see "80%" or anything, but i bet you could get some good deals here or there. Here's a good article on it, as well as a link to all 155 stores that are closing.

You won't know until you go and see. Circuit City is so overpriced (for the things I buy) that even with a small discount I can do better elsewhere. A TV, though, that might be different, since they cost a lot to ship or to move to another store.
Do your homework on the Internet to know what prices they go for, otherwise you wouldn't know if it was really a bargain, even at a discount from the usual CC price. |

Definitely do you homework and remember you are taking a risk.
Remember it isn't Circuit City that is handling these sales, it's the liquidation company. Nothing prevents them from unloading other returned or broken merchandise from other companies they've closed down earlier at this sale. Typically the sale prices aren't great because the liquidation company isn't going out of business, so they rely on the uninformed consumer thinking they are getting a great deal, when maybe it's 10% off, and the merchandise is unreturnable.
Make sure they have a good price, and if there is any question the product is in questionable condition, say no, or you may end up with a $500 brick. |

Well I did not really think it was. I went because my brother wanted me to check if out before he drove over after work. I already figured it would start at a very low discount. The signs say 10-30% off. The truth was most of it was 10%. The laptops and video games were 5% off. The televisions were 10% as were game consoles and stuff. The memory cards, MP3, computers accessories, digital cameras, etc were also 10%. I did not see anything for 30%. The camera accessories were 15%. This was in a Texas store. I would imaging they are all the same. Unless you were already planning to buy something there you would be better off to wait for a sale elsewhere as they are usually more than 10% off. I love Circuit City but the deals today were not good for me and I bought nothing at all. |
