Is the failure of an extremely wealthy corporation to give a proportionate share of its wealth to the ...?
... workers who created that wealth a sign that capitalism itself is a lie?

WildOrangeDesire.

1. Its not a "Failure" to issue undistributed earnings to employees. Stockholders and management have other uses for it. like plant improvements, equipment replacement, dividends to the stockholders. Believe me, there is nothing left over to give away. besides, the company would be taxed on it, the workers that received would be taxed on it too.

2. Wealth is relative. there are big companies and small companies....I dont know of many Wealthy companies....just wealthy people.

3. Workers dont create wealth. Workers produce products for earnings. thats what they agreed to. the company may be creating profit, but again that goes to the shareholders and stakeholders.

Its not easy making a socially redeeming issue out of something as pragmatic as going to work and earning a living.

Aren't wages paid to the employee a share of the wealth? Who gets to define "proportionate"? I'm guessing you want to. You start a company, make it successful, and you can give your people all the proportionate share you want.

Remember, if the pay is too low in a competitive job market, workers will leave for a better position at a better company.

The trick is you want compensation to be fair so that you keep your employees (especially good ones) while at the same time controlling expenses. Salaries and Labor costs are usually biggest expenses..

Not cut & dry question

No. Owners are entitled to lions share of profit as they carry risk.

If you want redistribution of the wealth, that's socialism. And that really has not worked out anywhere, ever.
