Is there really any freedom in America, when big business can advertise us into killing ourselves from smoking
and overeating? People think they have free will, but then they go do whatever the advertisers tell them to do.

Well big companies like McDonald advertise a lot, but I think that so many love eating that they just get so tempted about these commercials that they just go and get like a big mac. Also even when you pass by fast foods they always have those big signs where they sell their food for so cheap, but they are so fat fining and are really bad for you.

For smoking I think that its just the person themselve that start smoking; or in other cases their friends do it. or maybe some popular kid tells some person that they don't really talk to, so they force tem to start smoking or even in drinking its the same.

People are still choosing what they want. Don't pass the buck, take responsibility for your own choices.

If you think about it, exactly what you are ranting about encapsulates the ultimate in freedom. The freedom to destroy yourself. Now what is more American than that?

Yes, there is freedom in America.

I got free fries with my burger.

I used to get free cigarettes with my C-rations too.

Big businesses also run ads to buy cars, real estate and other things that you cannot afford. Do you run out and buy them?
Where does it say that you dont have to take some responsibility for your decisions? From childhood and beyond we hear about the bad results that can and do happen from smoking.
So obviously you choose to not hear those warnings and blame someone else for your mistakes.. Take some responsibility for your own actions. Put the cig down, quit smoking..
Do you continue to eat chocolate bars 2-3 per hour, just because they are advertised? Or do you favor not balooning up to 300-400 lbs and watch your diet?... Same thing. God gave you a mind, and hopefully sound judgement, use those assets and make your choice 'the better choice' and quit blaming everyone else for your mistakes..

you watch tv, see a commercial for mcdonalds, and go get a bigmac. isn't that still your choice? you choose what to watch, how to perceive it, and what to like. millions of people see the same commercials and are also NOT overweight. millions of people also see tabacco commercials and do not smoke.
everything is still your own choice.
do what you want.
it's called freedom.
