Is true success obtained thru long hours, great ideas or a true belief in ones self?

Alp
Success usually comes with long hours. It is *mostly* about work work work.

Great ideas do not come all the time. You need to be very very lucky to have one. This is luck.

Believeing in yourself does not mean much if other people do not believe in you. Lets say your boss does not like you, then you failed.

YES!

I hate to say this, but I believe that in today's society, hard work and long hours are not rewarded! Workplaces don't treat you as 'one of the family' anymore; if you're ill, you're out.

However, I believe that determination and belief in one's self is a strong motivator and can still get you far in life. Those who are truly successful do not hurt others in their determination...one cannot have that personality flaw and consider themself truly successful. Do you try YOUR best? Can you look yourself in the eye? Do you believe YOU can do whatever it is that you are trying to accomplish? Then you are successful!

Success has different meanings to different people. What are you defining success as? Money? Your relationship with God? Saving lives? Helping people? Whatever it may be different things work for different people. What may work for you might not work for me. I say work smarter not harder. I think if you have true passion about something you will succeed because you are passionate about it so you will work long hours come up with great ideas and naturally believe in yourself.

I guess it depends on what kind of success. I think success is working hard (not always long hours-although nowadays most of the time you do) and achieving what you want. I'd say good ideas and long hours, you can believe in yourself and that's important-but just because you believe in yourself doesn't mean you'll get what you want (or need) without working a good amount of time and having good ideas.

All of the above, plus a dedication to your goals.

KariM
A mixture of all of the things you've listed.

It really depends on what you consider being successful. If you want to make a lot of money, working hard, being innovative, and have self confidence are definite musts. If your goal is something more intangible, like just being happy with your job no matter what the pay, then that's something that requires a lot of the same elements, but motivated in a different way. The phrase that I think sums it up best is that "success" often is 99% inspiration and 1% perspiration... you can work day and night but if you're not motivated, then it's not worth a whole lot. As long as you are willing to do whatever it takes to get where you want to go, you'll be able to do it, but usually staying motivated is the biggest part of the battle. No one wants to work in a crummy job, working your way up the ladder, but everyone has to do it in one way or another, and usually the only difference between those who make it and those that don't is that the ones who are successful wanted it more. Good luck,

Brian

I think it takes all of your criteria, but I think the most important in believeing in yourself. When you believe in yourself, you project that confidence, and others believe in you as well.

I know lots of people who work long hours, and aren't successful. I know people who have had great ideas that went nowhere. I 've met lots of successful people, and they ALL believe firmly in themselves.

Luck!..being in the RIGHT place at the RIGHT time

what do you consider true success?

None of the above. True success is achieved through service to others and making any work that you do, no matter how unimportant it may seem, a prayer.
