Is wal-mart really getting rid of layaway? If so when?

(:♥TayLee♥:)
Wal-Mart to end layways

Wal-Mart is dumping another tradition started when Sam Walton founded the chain in 1962.

The world's largest retailer will end layaway service this year, due to falling demand and rising costs. Wal-Mart says it will stop accepting layway items on November 19th with a pickup deadline of mid-December.

yes they are!!! It sucks really bad. Gonna hurt those with low incomes. They need it to help with Christmas and birthdays. I heard it was immediatley. I liked using the layaway. It helped me alot. THey make billions of dollars and they say that"It is not cost effective". That's bull crap.

But us little people allways get the shaft.

Good Luck

yes they are, soon.

November, I put a layaway in mid-September and usually of Christmas merchandise that means they come out mid-December but it's due out in November because they want all layaways out before Christmas. All to cut a few jobs and save some money. I hope their sales drop horribly!

Here's part of the WalMart statement:
"Customers will have until November 19 to place items in layaway for this Christmas season and merchandise must be picked up by December 8."

Now, my friend Mark was laying away in the back room the other night. We tried to get him for work but he was snoring too loud. It was right after he was laying away one of the Brazilian stock girls for the 5th time that night in the back room. Then he probably had to take a nap.

crystald
yes it was on the news, it costs too much to keep it open because people arent using it as much anymore, they use credit cards!

Dont know when the change will happen Dont think they said that!

my understanding is that they are only doing away with it temporarily

I heard next year, they will still allow them this holiday season.

And sometimes you gotta shop at Wal-Mart. I know in the town near me, it's the only store they have!!

justagrandma
I can't believe anything in Wal-mart is expensive enough to need layaway.

Doug W
Walmart is the Devil Bobby Bouchet!!!

And besides that they suck. The only thing you can get cheap there anymore is CD's because they sell them at a loss. Everything else is more expensive.

Shop at Target and save the little children in the foreign countries from the Sweat Shops and inhumane conditions.

I hope so.

Why would you shop at Walmart???? They let their pharmacists refuse to fill valid, legal prescriptions for birth control.

who told you that? They can't get rid of layaway, there would be no point in buying anything.
