No. If it feels that way to you, you need to find another job. Market factors work in corporations. If no one wants to work there, the company will fail, therefore, good companies treat their employees well and have low turnover rates.

Well you actually get money for working where as a slave gets poor housing and poor amounts of food (unless the master can afford lots).
You can after work do what you want and buy what you want, slaves can't.
Some corps can be tough to work for and you do have to work hard to earn your dough, but it is your choice to work there.
I chose a job that allows me to get out and about, take naps, sit outside in the sunshine for lunch and when I'm working the boss can't look over my shoulder as I'm in the field not in the office. Yes they can call me and ask what I'm upto but they can't see.
To boot I get paid pretty good (considering I usually only work 4-5 hrs a day).
