Is world vision a reputable company?
I really want to sponsor a child and a friend of mine recently sponsored one with www.worldvision.org I don't really know much about this company and I want to make sure it's a reputable one. If you've sponsored a child through this organization, let me know how this worked out for you and if you were able to meet your sponsored child or not. Thanks!
World Vision is a non-profit organization associated with the James Fund and with Family Christian Stores. According to their website, 89% of your monthly donation goes straight to the child and the other 11% is used for "promotion purposes". FCS gets a cut of the promotion percentage, but I don't know how much.
Meeting up with your sponsored child really depends on the country the child is from and whether you have the funds to make it out there. I know a few people who sponsor with WV, and they all receive regular correspondence from their child. WV is a reputable organization, but please make sure you're committed to sponsorship before you sign up. Technically you can stop whenever you want, but the child cannot reapply for sponsorship for at least two years if you back out.
