Isn't it lame that Starbucks was letting supervisors and managers share in the tip pool?
It is the worst an example of corporate greed possible..Friends don't let their friends drink starbucks.
Maybe this quote from an employee will put some perspective on the situation.
"For the most part, the Shift Supervisors do the same job as the Baristas, so I never had a problem with them getting a share of the tips (3 years in a Starbucks here in PA, outside of Philly). They had a few additional tasks that would take them off the floor occasionally, but most of the time they were expected to be behind the counter working alongside the baristas."
The people waiting on customers should all share in tips in a tip jar. You could make a reasonable case that supervisors should get a smaller share than the baristas, either because of the slightly higher pay or because of the time they do spend away form the counter. But to cut them out entirely would seem to be an injustice.
Also it is interesting how the "supervisors" mentioned in the suit have gotten changed to "supervisors & managers" or just "managers" in media referrences. Don't they know there is a difference?

Not really, starbucks supervisors only make $1 or $2 more than regular employees.

I agree... that's awful! Maybe I should have sued the Sonic in Neosho, MO. They shortchanged a lot of their employees (me included) by saying that they were under in their registers and stuff so they could take the tips.

Yes, very lame. They should have known better. They deserved the fine they got.

Tips are for servers, period. I agree with you. I want the person who waited on me to get my tip, not some manager who is making better money. As opposed to a high school or college kid who is struggling to get by.
