federal minimum wage is not 7.25 yet.......so they could pay yoyu less than tht
JDF
Ha -- federal minimum wage is not $7.25/hour. There are exclusions -- in some areas small employers may not need to pay minimum wage.
Linda
It's not $7.25 per hour yet. Federal minimum wage is currently $5.15 per hour. It increases to $5.85 per hour in July, 2007; $6.55 per hour in July, 2008; $7.25 per hour in July, 2009. Some states have minimum wages that are higher than these federal rates.
There are some exceptions to the minimum wage -- such as workers who receive tips, and young workers under age 20 for the first 90 days of employment.
!PoPtArTs!
legally they have to give you at least minimum wage
mark
there is an exception for jobs that recieve TIPS, like waitresses . The combined wage paid + tips must be at least minimum wage .
I dont think $7.25 is minimum wage , federally its $5.15 (July 24, 2007), it will be $5.85. Each state can set its own minimum as long as it is higher than the federal wage.
