No, it does not happen to everyone. You'll probably have to take a few tests and fill out some more paper work (when I worked there I had to take a test to show if it was likely I would steal from the company - pretty easy to pass). If you do well/don't come off as crazy or the kind of person that steals from the place you work for you'll probably get the job.
By far the worst job I ever had - keeping the shelves organized/not a total mess from all the customers was horrid. But frankly, any job in this economy is better than nothing.
