I agree great idea!!!!!!! I am with you all the way!!!

kimmyisahotbabe
You are so stupid. If 90% of the people boycotted Exxon and Mobil, they would lower their prices 5 cents, and sell to the competitors. Where do you come up with such lame ideas?

Boycotting Exxon isn't going to work to bring down prices. If everyone stopped buying from Exxon and used the other providers, then the other providers would run out of gas pretty quickly due to supply and demand chain effects. What would happen is that they would buy their gas from Exxon and overall all prices would go up, not down.

Full mythbuster at Snopes.

I've got to add that the way to get gas prices lower is to use less gas (lower demand). Carpool, use public transportation, etc.

It's been tried many times there are too many slaves that don't know any better.A pricing war would mean the prices would come down, people would buy more, polluteeing more,I say jack the prices up and give tax breaks to people that deserve it.Over tax pleasure boaters, their pleasure is killing us all slowly.

badgerbadger
You might be surprised when the price actually rises. Inevitably there will be a rush when the boycott ends, and boom price increase. Look at the balance sheet of Exxon or Chevron and you'll see they can absorb the losses if there are any. There really are no "independent" oil companies. There are independent gas stations but they don't import their own oil.
