It's because of what Marx would call estranged labour, I'm afraid. Simply put, it becomes impossible for individuals to identify with their socio-economic conditions, so they substitute a sense of identity with a mtyh of social obligation to the capitalist, and aesthetic principles such as 'professionalism'. |

theres hardly any point in being loyal nowadays your just a number wherever you work, i was paid off from a supermarket chain after 16yr service, im not loyal in my new job if i want to phone in sick etc i do, whats the point in helping the fat cats get huge bonuses at the end of the year. |

Sounds like you haven't found the type of company you can be loyal to... and you need to move on. Not all employers deserve loyalty!
I have been at the same job for 12 years, and I believe in the service they perform and I believe in the integrity of the company. I like the people I work for, the benefits, and the retirement package. I feel loyalty to maintain that relationship. |

College education is indentured servitude. The corporations have no right to demand that you have to go four years without a job to get one of "their" jobs. Since the employees create the value of an investment, we create their wealth; so we should get even for their one-sided attitude. Start out with the hidden attitude that they owe you at least $100,000 for not paying you to develop the skills they make (not earn) their money from. Cheat them any way you can--and cheat the stockholders too; that was what Enron's employees really did. At the very least, when you're sent on a sales call, use it to see if your company's clients can offer you a better job. Network with other Yuppies and form sort of a union against the corporate parasites. |
