I think you have to admire a company that not only admits it got it wrong but did so much about it.
M&S were so smug in the old days that they wouldn't take credit cards and many other things they wouldn't do because they had such a loyal following. Times moved on and when Phillip Green was offering £4 a share M&S realised what they had was indeed a brand, one that people believed in.
Back to basics they looked at where they got it wrong, they admitted they had got it wrong and that from then on they would listen to the public who spent their money in their stores and they would get it right, hence your M&S.
Out of all fairness they really did get it right and with shares being now over £7 it has found a quality gap in the market. 3 years ago M&S was well known for ladies owning their panties, now days its about quality, in 3 years they have turned things around and if you asked anyone about M&S then the answer would be quality.
Stuart Rose will leave soon after the end of his stint, BUT, the answer will be have M&S learnt by their mistakes, the answer must be yes and when you look at their adverts you can see they believe in what they are selling and we all like to feel special. The service in M&S has always been fabulous they just got it wrong for a while and took customers for granted.
I can only afford stuff in a sale at M&S so I can't afford to shop there, but I believe that anyone that admits they got it wrong in such a big way, then when they are down still try and take on the tescos finest and Waitroses, I really have to say that thay earn a pat on the back. After all it's a genuine UK brand so therefore it really is our M&S. |

I have to agree with the last statement, marks and spencer have done brilliantly, they are a UK company and one we actually can be proud of, they did what they needed which was to listen, well done marks and spencer. |
