Managing Director-What is its function?
The word Director, Does it means he/she is also a member of Board of Directors or it means something else such as function in the operation level.

no, not necessarily a member of the board of director. He/she could be a person employed by the company to manage/organise the company daily activities. But in most cases the owner themselves would rather manage their own business, yes then he/she is a member of the boatrd of director.

These days, titles are awfully misused. Managing director at most places are just senior level managers. Just because the word "director" is in the title, it does not mean he/she is a member of the board of directors.

who is the company leader as appointed by who own the company or personally own his or her company,by the way as managing director, the main responsibility is whole operation of business fub ction which directed by the person woh is director,in term being support by his staffs who ben appointed to do their own tasks by working together as achievement to their business into their company vision.Mostly the directors have their strong senses in business acumen who are strongly believe in their trust which able to share their missions upon the benefits of the company and people who are under the structure and reputation.Being director can be work very hard and think deeply because as the face of the company and deal with the difficulties when come across, his or her decision will come into consequences for the people and company where he or her always being optimistic and positive either in mentality and approach. That is what I believe the basic of being director, mostly depend what industry they get into on how hard is the job has to face.

Answer to your supplementary question first.

The respective laws of the land may determine whether one can use the designation as Director without the person being one of the members of the Board of Directors of a company/corporation. In India, the law prohibits use of such designation (Director) unless the person is a member of the Board of Directors of that company. The legal explanation says that it could be misleading for the outside world to know that the person having the designation as "Director" is actually not a member of the Board - a Director normally having substantial powers by virtue of its designation as such.

Again as per the applicable Companies Act 1956 of India, a Managing Director is a director of the Company having substantial powers as to the overall superintendence, control and management of the affairs of the company/corporation. In some cases, the Managing Director is also the compliance officer of the company for all legal compliances as to the State and Public in general. Thereby, he/she is the sole operator of the policy and overall business and its implementation / execution as determined by the Board of Directors of a company / corporation collectively and hence his functions, powers and responsibilities are overall and substantial.

This person directs the company until the board of directors appoints someone they think is better than this person.

It depends on the type of company (C-corp, LLC, LLP, LP, etc).

In general, it is commonly used in LLCs to denote a VP or Partner level person.

It does not have any relationship to Boards of Directors.

No, it's not the Board of Directors. That's never going to be a posted job. It's not even a job, really.

It's a level, usually above manager, meaning you would oversee at least one manager, but report to a regional or VP level person.
