Most people HATE Wal-Mart ... but most people LOVE Targert. Why?
http://www.wakeupwalmart.com

Wake Up Wal-Mart is a site that is all anti Wal-Mart. But no site like that for Target? I never hear Target in the news for doing stuff that people don't like. Why do people like Target more? Target is growing so much it could easily be the next Wal-Mart in 10 years. Because everything comes to an end, and Wal-Mart WILL come to an end one day.

Wal-Mart treats their staff like second class citizens who have no rights, that's why. There was a Wal-Mart store in Quebec, Canada that was successful in bringing in a union. How did Wal-Mart handle that? They closed the store under the premise that there was insufficient business to keep it open. RIGHT!! No Wal-Mart, your employees do have rights, they are just trying to earn a living too and deserve to be paid fairly.

What makes u think most people hate WalMart ? If that were true, why r their stores always busy. Yes, they do have faults, but price wise, u can`t beat them especially in the grocery dept. Being on a very restricted budget, I`m going to shop where I get the most bang for my buck. I don`t give a hoot about ethnic issues or whatever other issues ppl have with WalMart. I care about getting the most food for my money in order to keep my family fed. I`ll shop WalMart till the doors r locked for good !

Until target becomes as large as wal-mart, if it ever does, it won't get nearly the publicity, whether bad or good, because it is not the largest. Have you ever heard of the backward bending supply labor curve? Basically, it is the theory that people will work a certain amount of hours per week (uknown) before the realize that they are not gaining anything in their lives except for stress....that's when the labor supply curve starts to bend backwards. people start to realize this and they start working less because they are financially secure enough to work less and enjoy life in whichever way they would like.

In either case, Wal-mart has this same type of backward bending curve. Wal-mart has gotten so big that at some point they have to start scaling back (i.e. working less hours) because their competition (i.e. relaxation and other activities besides work) start to creep in. Therefore, we are starting to see some of that competition creep in, whether it be Target, Costco or even a a coalition against wal-mart. whatever it is, wal mart will not come to an end, they will just not be as big. competition is one of the greatest parts of a free-market society.

Its an interesting case that is reviewed over and over in college marketing classes. Its the whole PR thing thin. Walmart has unknowingly gotten right up in your face! Throwing up stores everywhere you turn WOuldnt be so bad except its dirty, overcrowded and just dominat in the market place. Pu a lot of mom am pops out of business besides misusing their employees. Target is clean! Bright, scarce, unique, subtle. Same as Walgreens. There are twice as many being built than walmart but they are PR (public relations) champions.

Because Target doesn't allow those stupid annoying Salvation Army Bell Ringers in front of their prestine, lovely, awesome stores.

Wal-Mart does. Go figure!

Target treats their customers like they treat those bell ringers. Try returning something to Target, and then try returning something to Wal-Mart.

You can pretty much figure out that Wal-Mart will be the better experience, AND they are charitable.

I didn't know Walmart is really that bad.

I shopped to walmart because it's near in my place. I just noticed that they have lots of employees from foreign countries but that dont matter as long as they give me good service.

I shopped in Target before and yeah, the place seems organized.

But ayway, all I care for is the product I buy with the store... it should be in high quality and if applicable- fresh

People think that Wal-Mart employees don't get enough pay or days off, etc. and are treated badly just because most of them are poor. Target doesn't treat their employees as bad, or pay them as less as Wal-Mart pays their employees. Personally, I don't mind either places.

People *HATE* wal-mart because they purposely and actively try to drive out local businesses in the same way that starbucks does. They are able to undercut other businesses by paying their employees very low wages and horrible benefits, and once the local alternative businesses are gone, local citizens have no where to go but to work there themselves. Read up on them...

Never really thought about it... but i myself do shop at Target and not Walmart. It just seems to be more friendly and less of a "machine" than Walmart, where all you hear about is how badly the employees are treated, etc.
