I think when you look at people in China, India, Indonesia, Africa, (insert poor country here) you will find that environment takes a back seat to putting food in the mouths of your family. It is unfortunate, but as industrialized country residents we sometimes need to understand that our ability to criticise corporations for their non-green policies is made possible by the fact that those corporations have continually raised our standard of living and given us less to worry about in life. |

no, it be should be considered and industry should more to lessen their affect on the environment. With that in mind many of us live in a materialism world where every day connection with environment is not considered as we rush to work rush home....the rat race...
It really needs to start with the average person, they should how they live and their own life style. If the average person was to do more to reduce their affect on the environment the businesses would react too, or we wait for the government to enact more laws have more control over us. It could start with a simple change such as stop using plastic grocery bags. Did you 150 tons of those go in the trash each year in just California. We purchased the 99c canvas type bags to do our shopping. They are better in that they do not break and carry a greater wieght. Also look at water bottles, soda bottles, cut your trips to town by planning ahead, I bet every one could cut their fuel needs by 10%. As a kid my parents would put the trash bin out each week it was a small trash bin and not always full, now look big trash bin and not just one buy two.
I suggest we all look at how we live and make effort this year to do what we can by making a few changes, if we all did business will see that and many would make changes too |
