You need to look for a lawyer..even though it was a mistake, your personal information was leaked, and you are highly at risk for fraud..So watch out and most of all be cautious!! |

Contact the 3 credit agencies and tell them you want fraud protection so if someone tried to open up an account with your soc number they would need to answer questions only you would know. |

Call the credit reporting agencies and make sure that you put a fraud alert on your credit information as soon as possible. Talk to the tech support about seeing if that email can be removed from the system in any way. |

One word: LITIGATION. Accident or no, that's not acceptable. Good luck, and remember to monitor your credit report for some time to come. |

File a claim with the company.
You also need to immediately notify the credit beureau that your SSN was compromised so they can notify you if anyone tries anything funny. They will call you even if it is an inquiry. |

Well he broke all kinds of rules and regulations regarding Hipaa and just in general.
At the least he should pay for free credit reports for the next several years. it's up to you how many.
depends on how much you like your job b/c that sounds like you may have a law suit. Please call a lawyer immendiately and PLEASE Put a statement on you credit file and a security alert. it will stop any creeps from doind fradulent activities. If you don't notify the credit bureaus and then something fradulent happens, they will be less likely to help.
I feel so bad for you...I'd be furious! Some things should dnever happen and this is one of them. it was careless and unprofessiosnal. |

If you don't feel secure you can request a change of social security number. But I wouldn't make a big deal, there's no way you can prove he did it on purpose, and if you upset him he may fire you. |

contact transunion, equifax and the other credit union and put out a fraud alert. don't trust your coworkers and definately don't trust your boss. if you feel that it wasn't an accident you should contact the authorities. |

You can go to the credit bureaus website and place a fraud alert on your account for safe keeping. It's free and all you have to do is have 1 number that any creditor will call to contact you if someone tries anything. But make darn sure that that number remains the contact number the entire durations. Be aware that if you do opt to do this, it will cause delays when you're applying for credit also. Normally only about 1 day though...but it's worth it! As far as your employer, I would definitely contact the H.R department and report it & get something in writing for future problems. It's not personal, it's just smart business. And why was it just your social? Now that may be personal. |

Well if you ever have credit problems. Your best bet is to sue the bastards. Cause sure enough if probably was somebody from inside the company. Reasonable doubt? |

sue him for negligence, he had a duty to protect your ssn, he breached this duty, if he had been responsible with your number it would not have been lost, now all you have to do is wait for any damages that ensue and you have all of the elements of a negligence case! |

I would report it to the credit bureuas ASAP! |

In order to just apply for contracting work at AT&T people have to give others who they do not know at all via the telephone their SSN. This is before they even are considered for an interview. It is unclear if AT&T validates that the people that are asking for your SSN are legitimate in any way. I am not sure if there are any Federal or State laws that require these people to pass certain standards either. Is this negligence on AT&T's part? Now there are so many regulations on encrypted personal information is databases though this large corporation makes it a requirement to tell a stranger who they probably never screened your SSN over a phone line. The phone line which is wireless may also be easily tapped into. They should know better. |
