The invite was sent out to his group, and he simply replied, "You could not pay me double the admission cost to attend."
The boss did not respond because it was so rude.

Invitation to a company party is either mandatory or not. Certainly even if it is not manatory, it is often politically required to go. But if it is not mandatory, there is nothing officially that the boss can do to the employee. But I am sure that the boss will use that in other ways. |

I think that his boss won't forget it and that it will come back to bite him in the rear in a big way.
I'd much rather have the boss call me in and yell at me about the email than not respond at all, because, he is definately going to respond in some way. |
