MUFFIN: 4 WKS & 2 DAYS...... | My partner and I suffered a touch of food poisoning from one of our local kebab shops recently? |

Thanks |

Call up you local council They have a food inspector that will be able to help. |

Speak to your local council, they will tell you who the health inspector is you need to contact. If you don't have any evidence, left overs, they probably won't do anything for your case but will possibly arrange an inspection of the property. |

Food Standards Agency....the link below is the contact page. Depends on your specific location.
I'm honestly not sure if they are really going to want 'samples' of your food. It doesn't or shouldn't really matter. You should report it anyway. The departments should want this information for statistics...and usually if there is more than one report, even without the food, its more than enough to alert the correct agency (and they work together--they communicate to various agencies, OK?) to the issue. |

Contact your local Environmental Health Department - if you've got any samples of the kebabs in question, seal them in plastic bags.... |

Every city, in developed countries anyways, usually has a "health department" that licenses and inspects restaurants and food vendors.
Your best bet would be to go to the restaurant, and look at their licenses, which should be clearly posted somewhere, if possible. This will get you the reference number of the license that you would need to talk to the local health department.
If not, then the address and name of the restaurant should do.
Another possibility:
Talk to the manager, and tell them what happened. They might actually want to improve the safety of their food. Just a thought. Doing this though, would tip off the owner that you are the one that might report them, but I thought I would throw this out there anyways. |

Nothing to do with DEFRA - as some of those above have advised you it is your local council who are responsible (Environmental Health) Very little can be done now if you have not kept the evidence - it is only your word against theirs that the cause of your food poisoning came from the kebab. Indeed, did you even go to your doctor and have an official diagnosis that you did have food poisoning - could have been gastro entiritis or similar. I am not being flippant - it is simply the rule of law that you have to have evidence to prove your case. |
