Sdcdog | Office competition to win $500!? |
I have a $500 gift card to give away to one of the 10 people in the office, but I want to think of a clever competition / activity that would be fair to anyone to win the prize. I want this to be fun and take like 10-30 mins and be fair to everyone. ANY IDEAS? |

every year we have an office trivia. there would be about 20 questions, and you are not allowed to use the interenet, it could be about random things, facts about the office, it can get fun and competitive!! |

Why don't you have an attendance contest? They did that at my part-time job a few years in a row. No one can be more than 5 minutes late getting into work in the morning and can't be late coming back from lunch. If you don't use time clocks at your company to prove time accuracy, have everyone sign in at the receptionist desk and have he or she verify the time. This way, if person #1 signs it at say 8:05 a.m. and person #2 is late, they obviously can't sign in prior to 8:05 a.m. |

Get 10 decks of playing cards (go to the discount store where you can get 2 packs for $1) and whoever can build the tallest structure using playing cards (without the use of staples, tape, glue etc) in 30 minutes without it falling wins. So they have 30 minutes to build it and at the end of 30 minutes it must still be standing (without holding it) |

I am not sure why you would want to single out one person in the office if it is not a work related bonus. No matter how you do it you will have one person who feels good and nine who feel bad. If it is a bonus it should go to the person/people who have performed the best through a given time period. Individual awards also tend to undermine teamwork and cooperation.
If you are still set on giving it to only one person I would make the task somewhat related to work. If those in the office do alot of presentation/spreadsheet work, create a fictious task and judge the best/most professional output in a limited time. If they are responsible for research, ask them to find information on 5 to 10 topics. |
