It's Carlos Slim Helu. He used to be the world's third richest man with the strong performance of his Mexican wireless telephone company, America Movil. Then he became the world's second richest man and overtook Warren Buffet. The 67-year-old Slim's fortune rose $4 billion to $53.1 billion, while Buffett's holdings slipped to $52.4 billion as of March 29. Now, this year Forbes reported that he's number one.
btw, here's the reason: a 27% rise in the price of the shares of his company America Movil. This spurt increased Slim's wealth to $67.84 billion. Slim also controls telecom firms Telmex and Telcel
