What big/huge transnational do for this process is to create an organization "draft" of the "to be" company.
This need to be regardless of what you have today, so what the companies do is compare with your industry market, how they do, for example, if I am a company that competes with Gap and Old Navy, to research what kind of organization they have to manage their business, then resize and crop to adjust to our future needs, this way you get to a final future structure...
Then, this new structure (no names on it), need to have a profile for each role, with this done, the only step needed for grand finale is to search within your current organization who fit into the new roles and search outside for those, that you cannot fill...
Welcome to your new restructured organization. |

the proper structure depends on the size and nature of your business. There are many models to chose from. One I like is a 'matrix' function where people have departmental responsibilities but also work in multi-departmental teams so they overlap and interact with each other.
The best thing you can do is to flow chart several options to study them. But you must ask yourself what kind of organization are you building, autocratic or democratic, task or team focused, centralized or decentralized, organic or mechanic?
Good luck |

As a former admin and supervisor. You need to start at the top. What are you looking for? Usually you need a CEO, Asst CEO, depending the size and programs in your company a Director for each program. Asst director under them, 1 or 2 program supervisors. Base it on your company's needs . hope this helps. |

May be idealistic, but........
Since profit is essential to growth there has to be a solid business plan to reach the strategic goals.
The "health" of the company is directly linked to the health of the employees.
Business plans have taken a turn for the worse in that short term gain & golden parachutes are the prime concern of management these days.
Former top heavy ( not that, that was good) corporations have gone to a lean ,mean , high pressure management style that looks good on paper for a while.
More with less & sweeping cuts immediately improve the bottom line as long as the workforce can take the strain.
It does not work well over the long run.
Jack Welch wannabees do not make the effort to look for win/win situations that benefit the corporation , workforce or the non stockholding customer.
the other side of the coin being extremely profitable corporations run by men like Warren Buffet & Bill gates who's
decency & support of a well cared for labor force will ensure.success in the very long term.
Structure? ask a grandmother......
Waste nothing, clean your plate, say please & thank you, be a good neighbor, work hard & be honest.
Best regards |
