If you go home............ no

ex: we had power failure- closed store BUt stayed there stocking, straightening with emergency lights on .. got paid for the entire time we were on the premises

Yes if you worked a full day or shift.

Legally an employer can only pay you for the hours you have worked.

If your company has closed down they should send you something in writing regarding your pay. This may not hold true for all companies though. But it is an ethical and responsible thing to do.

If you can try contacting someone such as your Manager or HR Rep. If you do not reach them contact the Department of Labor in your State and inquire how you can proceed.

No not really, because you didnt work a full day or a half a day or anything, unless you did and they said they aint payin you then yeah they have to pay you, but it all depends on the day whether you worked or you did not it will determine your pay.
